Ships and Shipyards
There are many different types of ships in Merchant Seas. Once you've earned enough gold
from trading to buy a ship, start visiting the shipyards in ports. Higher level ports
will have higher level ships for sale. The number in red shows the minimum level you
must have reached to be able to handle the ship. If your level is less, you won't be
able to purchase it.
![]() The three numbers in the middle are (from left to right) the number of cargo holds, the number of supply holds, and the size of the crew needed to run the ship. For trading, you want to find ships with the largest cargo and supply holds, and the smallest crew - remember that large crews consume more supplies, and that's expensive! Also keep in mind that all ships are not built equal. A frigate at one shipyard might require twice as many crew to run as a similar frigate at another shipyard. Make sure to shop around for the best deal, and always make sure you can afford the cost of supplies to run your ship.
Once you purchase a ship, the slot will become empty - no one else can buy it. The shipyard
will start to build a new ship, and it will appear once they've finished it.
